For many individuals, the field of geology remains a hurdle in harmonizing a young earth with the scientific data. The formation of multiple strata layers and deep canyons was previously considered a slow process over long periods of time. The May 14, 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens changed all of this. Rather than basing geology around long-age “assumptions”scientists discovered a living laboratory that provided some startling information.
