Satan’s propaganda microphone was trumpeting loud during the last presidential election.  So what was his delusion this time?  With the help of the media there was a direct effort to convince people there was a “Republican war on women”.  Now it must be mentioned up front that I am in no way attempting to defend the Republican Party, but the fact that this so called “war on women” was attached to the Republican Party is nothing more than smoke in mirrors.  Their attack is really directed towards Christians.
This particular attack gained such prominence that it garnered its own Wikipedia page and other web sites dedicated to spread this lie.1  Wikipedia begins by stating the “War on Women’ is a political catchphrase in United States politics, used to describe Republican Party initiatives in federal and state legislatures that are seen as restricting women’s rights, especially with regard to reproductive rights.”  2
Wow… it certainly sounds scary to anyone who is deluded enough to believe it.  But what specifically are they talking about?  How exactly are Christians attempting to restrict women’s rights?  I am a Christian man who is married to a Christian woman and I have never believed in restricting the reproductive rights of a woman.
One of the ways that Satan will attack Christians is simply by making an accusation and then forcing Christians to defend themselves.  Think about it.  If I were to come up to you in a crowded room and loudly proclaim that you are a racist, everyone in the room will take notice and wait for your defense.  Now that I have made my accusation, it is up to you to prove otherwise.  There doesn’t need to be any facts laid behind the accusation, just the accusation itself is enough to put a person on the defensive.
Although these accusations are not accompanied by any proof (because it simply doesn’t exist), they are accusing Christians of being anti-women.  So what makes me someone who is conducting a war on women?  Here is what I believe it comes down to…

  • Do I believe that life begins at conception?  Yes!  (Isaiah 49:1. 44:24; Jeremiah 1:5)
  • Do I believe that abortion is nothing short of the killing of an innocent unborn soul?  Yes!
  • Do I therefore believe that any “contraception” that terminates an egg after conception is ultimately another form of abortion?  Yes!
  • Do I believe that sexual relationships between a man and women should only be consummated in marriage, that any sexual contact outside of marriage is not only a sin against God, but also destructive to society?  Yes! (Hebrews 13:4)
  • Am I against public taxpayer money to purchase contraception that is freely distributed to men and women of all ages, including children under the age of 18, in order to promote “safe” sex?  Yes!
  • Am I against public taxpayer funding of organizations that perform abortions such as Planned Parenthood?  Yes!

You see, the “war” they are referring to are actually direct attacks on the very fundamental teachings of the bible and Christianity.
I am a Christian man who loves God and loves my wife as Paul describes in Ephesians 5:25.  I am proud of who I am and proud to proclaim the truth and morality taught by God.  If I am called upon to defend myself, I will do so loudly.
But I will not stop by defending myself, I am not afraid to speak the truth with my own accusations…

  • To those that believe men and women should freely engage in sexual acts outside of a Godly marriage, you are immoral
  • To those that are promoting abortion under the guise of “women’s reproductive rights”, you are godless.
  • And to those that believe the government should force all institutions, including churches, to pay for and provide contraception that leads to the abortion of a child, you are waging a war on babies.

I know these accusations are harsh, but they are also true.  Let’s not forget the consequence of sin is also quite harsh, that is, unless you enjoy eternal pain and agony.  However, I do offer good news.  There is hope!  There is redemption!  Christ offers the hope of salvation, what does Satan offer?
