\nThe job of the homemaker is so encompassing that many do not want to\u00a0even attempt to take it on.\u00a0Along\u00a0with other qualities, in the New Testament older women are specifically instructed to teach the younger women to be homemakers\u00a0(Titus\u00a02:4-5).\u00a0Those who do attempt\u00a0to take on\u00a0this job\u00a0often do not do so\u00a0appropriately.\u00a0Just what is a homemaker? Dictionary.com defines\u00a0homemaker<\/i>\u00a0as \u201ca person who\u00a0manages the household of his\u00a0or\u00a0her own family, especially as a principal occupation.\u201di<\/span>\u00a0The Greek word in Titus is defined as\u00a0\u03bf\u1f30\u03ba\u03bf\u03c5\u03c1\u03b3\u03cc\u03c2<\/i>; \u201chomemaker, pertaining to being busy at home, working at home.\u201dii<\/span>\u00a0Interesting that the world defines it for \u201chis or her\u201d but we have no indication from the Lord that it is an option for the man.\u00a0When this exhortation is brought\u00a0in Titus, it was told to the older women to teach the younger to do this.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
\nNewheiser\u00a0had this to say about being a homemaker, \u201cHomemakers should remain\u00a0faithful\u00a0in their work.\u00a0The full-time wife and mother\u00a0has\u00a0one of the most challenging yet potentially rewarding of all vocations. The work of a homemaker is very challenging because her job is self-structured (and unpaid!). If she is not self-disciplined, her home will become a shambles (Proverbs\u00a024:30\u201332). A lazy or disorganized woman places extra burdens on her husband and sets a terrible example for her children. On the other hand, when the homemaker excels, like the woman of Proverbs 31, she receives the praise of her husband, her children, and God.\u201diii<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
\nI have chosen to write a simple code of ethics to serve as a daily reminder of that which the job entails and demands.\u00a0The need for wives and mothers to fulfill their God-given role, and do so adequately,\u00a0is greater than ever.\u00a0In a time where women look down on such a wonderful role and will often times leave it \u201cin a search to find\u00a0themselves.\u201d\u00a0This code will not be accepted by all, as it pertains to the homemaker who aims to please the Lord before others.\u00a0<\/span>
