Close, but no cigar.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559731&quot;:720,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nI realized what my worst fear was when I was booking another officer\u2019s prisoner.\u00a0The man was arrested for being drunk in public (and boy,\u00a0was he drunk!).\u00a0Now,\u00a0it\u2019s not unusual for intoxicated people to say really less than intelligent things while they are in police custody.\u00a0In fact, television shows have made a serious profit off of inebriated people\u2019s shenanigans.\u00a0Most of the time,\u00a0you just\u00a0let it go like water off a duck\u2019s back.\u00a0But he crossed the line.\u00a0\u201cYou have a nice family.\u00a0You know, I notice when you aren\u2019t home.\u201d\u00a0Threatening me is one\u00a0thing\u2013\u2013that happens all the time; it comes with the job.\u00a0However, threatening my family is a completely different\u00a0matter.\u00a0My worst fear is leaving my family unprotected.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nFirst order of business, we installed an alarm system.\u00a0As soon as one of our doors opens, my phone gets a text message telling me which one.\u00a0Another push of the button on my nifty smart phone,\u00a0and I can view a live stream of the cameras in my house.\u00a0Open a door or trip a sensor while the alarm is activated,\u00a0and I am instantly alerted through my cell phone.\u00a0Now\u00a0alarms don\u2019t deter all criminals, so we bought a dog.\u00a0Not\u00a0some little ankle-biting Chihuahua, we bought a Boxer.\u00a0He is roughly 75 pounds, has a vicious bark, an even meaner bite,\u00a0and he is oh so protective.\u00a0Yet even with the alarm and the dog, I didn\u2019t feel that was quite enough protection for my family,\u00a0and much to my delight, my wife agreed.\u00a0We bought guns, a lot of guns in all sorts of tasty calibers.\u00a0From the smallest .22 caliber pistol up to a .50\u00a0caliber\u00a0hand cannon that is capable of blowing a hole through a tank.\u00a0We have shotguns, assault rifles,\u00a0and scoped rifles capable of reaching out several thousand yards.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nThat seems a bit \u201coverboard\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0\u201ca bit excessive,\u201d\u00a0right? I disagree whole-heartedly.\u00a0You see, when it comes to my family, I will do whatever it takes to keep them safe!\u00a0Let me ask you this, what would you be willing to do to keep your family safe should someone threaten their safety? Add an alarm? Buy a dog or a gun? I dare say any parent worth\u00a0his\u00a0salt would do whatever it takes to keep\u00a0his family\u00a0out of harm\u2019s way.\u00a0Now,\u00a0what if that someone who was threatening your family was Satan? What are you willing to do to keep them safe?\u00a0If you take nothing from this lesson, take this: no matter what we do to keep our family safe from the worldly dangers, it will mean absolutely nothing if their souls\u00a0are\u00a0soul-napped by the Devil.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nHear me on this,\u00a0folks.\u00a0The idea that we can give God\u00a0just\u00a0three hours of\u00a0Bible study each week will not cut it.\u00a0That\u2019s so important I\u2019ll say it again.\u00a0The idea that we can give God\u00a0just\u00a0three hours of\u00a0Bible study each week\u00a0will not cut it.\u00a0We have to be more involved than that.\u00a0If someone were\u00a0threatening your family, you wouldn\u2019t keep your alarm on for just three hours each week and hope the bad guys don\u2019t come the other 165 hours of the week.\u00a0That would be absurd.\u00a0Why do we think we can keep the souls of our family safe turning on our spiritual alarms on two hours on Sunday and one hour on Wednesday? The devil is constantly trying to get into your home and attack your family.\u00a0In the words of Inner Circle (those guys who sing the\u00a0\u201cCops\u201d\u00a0theme song), \u201cWhatcha\u00a0gonna\u00a0do?\u201d<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nHow about this\u2013\u2013we start having daily\u00a0Bible study with our families? I heard a brother in Christ say that Wednesday night\u00a0Bible study at church is his night to get his spiritual batteries recharged to help him get to Sunday.\u00a0You know, if we get into God\u2019s\u00a0Word daily, we could keep our batteries charged every\u00a0day! \u201cThese were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, searching the\u00a0Scriptures\u00a0<b>daily<\/b>\u00a0whether these things were so (Acts 17:11,\u00a0emp.\u00a0added).\u00a0They had their noses in God\u2019s\u00a0Word daily, not just on Sunday and Wednesday.\u00a0We used to be known as \u201cBible\u00a0totin,\u2019\u00a0Scripture\u00a0quotin\u2019 Christians.\u201d Notice I said, \u201cused\u00a0to.\u201d Want to change that? Have nightly\u00a0Bible studies with your family.\u00a0Dive into the\u00a0Word!<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nHow about we watch what our families are watching on the television or listening to the radio?\u00a0It\u2019s one of the easiest ways the Father of Lies can get into our families\u2019\u00a0minds.\u00a0\u201cWell,\u00a0we won\u2019t be watching much television if we eliminate every show that has immorality or bad language.\u201d And what is wrong with that? Jesus said that if you eye or your hand offends you, cut\u00a0it off because it would be better for you to go through life maimed or blind than to be cast into the Devil\u2019s Hell (Matthew\u00a05:29-30).\u00a0Think of it this way, the less time you spend in front of the television, the more time you can spend with your family and the closer you will become! There is a word the Greeks used for this kind of logic\u2013\u2013I believe it\u2019s spelled, \u201cb-r-i-l-l-i-a-n-t!\u201d<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nHow about we monitor what how we dress? Tell me how some of our \u201cladies\u201d can wear the name of Jesus and walk around looking like a prostitute?
