{"id":6101,"date":"2018-02-23T10:05:09","date_gmt":"2018-02-23T16:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tampaseo.expert\/focus\/?p=6101"},"modified":"2018-02-23T10:05:09","modified_gmt":"2018-02-23T16:05:09","slug":"repent-america-time-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tampaseo.expert\/focus\/2018\/02\/23\/repent-america-time-now\/","title":{"rendered":"Repent America: The Time is Now!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Keith Parker<\/strong><br \/>\nRecently I returned from a mission trip to India.\u00a0The hearts of the people are hungry for the\u00a0Gospel.\u00a0They were open, receptive,\u00a0and appreciative of God\u2019s\u00a0Word.\u00a0I met some of the most loving people that I\u2019ve ever met in my life.\u00a0The\u00a0Gospel was preached and souls were saved; it was a very successful journey.\u00a0However, being in India reminded me of the abundant blessings of America.\u00a0Compared to the poverty of India, most of us Americans are rich; we\u2019re blessed beyond words.\u00a0We\u2019re living in the greatest country in the world.\u00a0As Lee Greenwood sang, \u201cI am proud to be an American.\u201d<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559731&quot;:720,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nBut morally and spiritually America needs to be healed.\u00a0Take a look at what is going on in our country.\u00a0Divorce is no longer frowned upon.\u00a0Homosexual marriages are being applauded.\u00a0Abortion is an option considered by many.\u00a0One can hardly turn on the television without hearing God\u2019s name used in vain.\u00a0The filth that Hollywood and the movie industry are spewing is sinful and sickening.\u00a0The violence, greed, lusts, sexual immorality, nudity,\u00a0and rotten language that are seen and heard on the screen\u00a0are a reflection of the depravity in the hearts and homes of the American people.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nWhat\u2019s the answer? Let\u2019s not be a problem-conscious people without being a solution-conscious people.\u00a0As always, God gives us the answer: \u201cIf\u00a0My people, who are called by\u00a0My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek\u00a0My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land\u201d (2\u00a0Chronicles 7:14).\u00a0First, notice the people of this passage: \u201cIf\u00a0My people, who are called by\u00a0My\u00a0name\u2026.\u201d In Old Testament times the people of God were called \u201cIsraelites\u201d or \u201cJews.\u201d What about today? What are God\u2019s people called today? We\u2019re Christians (Acts 11:26).\u00a0Followers of Jesus.\u00a0The salt\u00a0and light of the world.\u00a0Christians can support clean and wholesome entertainment.\u00a0Christians can refuse to spend money on the filth of HBO, Cinemax,\u00a0and Showtime.\u00a0Christians can\u00a0object to\u00a0ungodly\u00a0movies.\u00a0Christians can refuse to let Satan babysit their kids.\u00a0Christians can make a positive difference in this negative world.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nSecond, notice the plan of this passage:\u00a0 \u201c\u2026will humble themselves and pray and seek\u00a0My\u00a0face and turn from their wicked ways.\u201d God\u2019s plan starts with humility.\u00a0Be humble enough to admit wrong.\u00a0Be humble enough to change.\u00a0Be humble enough to seek help.\u00a0\u201cHumble yourselves before the Lord, and\u00a0He will lift you up\u201d\u00a0(James 4:10).\u00a0Humility leads to prayer.\u00a0Pray about anything and everything.\u00a0Pray for wisdom in choosing the right movie to attend.\u00a0\u201cYou do not have,\u00a0because you do not ask\u00a0God\u201d (James 4:2).\u00a0Prayer leads to seeking God\u2019s face and turning from wicked ways.\u00a0Quit going to movies that bring you down spiritually.\u00a0Stop renting movies that you would be ashamed to watch with Jesus.\u00a0Make up your mind that you will not watch a movie that you could not show at church\u00a0or show to children.\u00a0\u201cSubmit yourselves, then, to God.\u00a0Resist the devil, and he will flee from you\u201d (James 4:7).<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nThird, notice the promises of this passage: \u201cThen will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.\u201d God promises to open\u00a0His ears to our prayers: \u201cThe eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and\u00a0His ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil\u201d (1\u00a0Peter 3:12).\u00a0God\u2019s promises to forgive our sins: \u201cIf we confess our sins,\u00a0He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness\u201d (1\u00a0John 1:9).\u00a0God promises to heal our land: \u201cBlessed is the nation\u00a0whose\u00a0God is the Lord, the people\u00a0He chose for\u00a0His inheritance\u201d (Psalm 33:12).\u00a0These are precious promises.\u00a0If we\u2019ll just follow God\u2019s plan, they can be ours today.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nIt\u2019s time for Christians to think.\u00a0It\u2019s time for America to repent.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0As always, we hope you will think on these things.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Keith Parker Recently I returned from a mission trip to India.\u00a0The hearts of the people are hungry for the\u00a0Gospel.\u00a0They were open, receptive,\u00a0and appreciative of God\u2019s\u00a0Word.\u00a0I met some of the most loving people that I\u2019ve ever met in my life.\u00a0The\u00a0Gospel was preached and souls were saved; it was a very successful journey.\u00a0However, being in India [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"give_campaign_id":0,"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[35,66],"tags":[138,956,1375,1383],"class_list":["post-6101","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-culture","category-think-excerpts","tag-america","tag-from-the-editors","tag-june-2013","tag-keith-parker","et-doesnt-have-format-content","et_post_format-et-post-format-standard"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Repent America: The Time is Now!
