mom or a dad?\u00a0What do you find to be the most challenging aspect of parenting?\u00a0Some would describe parenting as the greatest blessing ever received.\u00a0Others might describe parenting as the greatest challenge they\u2019ve ever undertaken.\u00a0Most parents would probably say both.\u00a0Parenting is a great blessing bringing numerous rewards.\u00a0Parenting is also a tremendous challenge,\u00a0and is at times a scary endeavor.\u00a0As a parent,\u00a0I know I need help.\u00a0I need direction.\u00a0God provides us what we need.\u00a0God shows us how to be good parents.\u00a0Our heavenly Father shows us how to be good earthly fathers and mothers.\u00a0God shows us how to sacrifice.\u00a0He shows us how to give.\u00a0He shows us how to be patient.\u00a0God shows us how to forgive.\u00a0God shows us to how to develop\u00a0good\u00a0relationships\u00a0with our children.<span \/>\nOne quality we need to imitate from God is getting to know our children individually.\u00a0To be effective as a parent, we must know our children.\u00a0God knows everything about us.\u00a0The Psalmist declares that our Father is\u00a0\u201cintimately acquainted with all our ways.\u201d\u00a0God is the best Father.\u00a0How well do you know your children?<span \/>\nThe home should be a place where we come to know each other as a family, and a place where we come to know God.\u00a0God has always worked through families.\u00a0A trip through the pages of the Bible demonstrates this.\u00a0Genesis 18:19, Deuteronomy 4:5-10, Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Proverbs 22:6 and Ephesians 6:4 show God\u2019s desire to work through families.\u00a0This plan will never change.\u00a0God has big expectations for you as a parent;\u00a0He expects you to follow His example.\u00a0As a mom and a dad, you should be intimately acquainted with your children.\u00a0Again, let me ask:\u00a0How well do you know your kids?\u00a0Do you know the answers\u00a0to the following questions?<span have a crucial responsibility.\u00a0<b>We are to teach our children<\/b><b>.\u00a0<\/b>We are to teach them marriage skills.\u00a0We are to teach them parenting skills.\u00a0We need to teach our children how to respect other people.\u00a0We need to teach them a Biblical worldview.\u00a0We need to teach them the ability to think godly.\u00a0We need to teach our children how to handle money.\u00a0We need to teach our children how to be responsible.\u00a0We need to teach our children God\u2019s Word.\u00a0We must teach our children God\u2019s plan of salvation.\u00a0<b>We also must encourage our children<\/b><b>.\u00a0<\/b>Our kids need to know they are important.\u00a0They need to know they matter to God,\u00a0and to you as their mom and dad.\u00a0Our kids need to know they can trust you as their parents.<span \/>\nHow can we possibly fulfill these tremendous challenges as parents?\u00a0Let me give you three\u00a0areas\u00a0to focus on as a parent.\u00a0I challenge you as a parent to know the following things about your children.<span data-leveltext=\"%1.\" data-font=\"Times New Roman\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\">\u00a0<b>Know their friends<\/b><b>.\u00a0<\/b>Paul\u2019s words in 1 Corinthians 15:33 will always\u00a0be\u00a0true.\u00a0The truth spoken by Paul is timeless and applicable to all generations.\u00a0There are many things different now than when you were a teenager.\u00a0Some things will never change.\u00a0Some of the best and worst decisions I\u2019ve made in my life have come about because\u00a0of the influence of my friends.\u00a0Spend a few minutes reading Mark 2:1-12.\u00a0Compare your friends to these individuals.\u00a0Compare your children\u2019s friends to these people.\u00a0Help your children surround themselves with people who care about them spiritually.\u00a0Paul gives another warning to the church at Corinth in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.\u00a0In what areas of our lives do these words apply?\u00a0If these verses don\u2019t apply to our closest relationships, then where do they apply?\u00a0If these words don\u2019t apply to the friends we choose, then where are they applicable?\u00a0If these words aren\u2019t talking about the people we hang out with,\u00a0the\u00a0people we choose to date and the person we choose to\u00a0marry,\u00a0then what is the point of Paul\u2019s message?\u00a0Paul\u2019s words apply in all of the above situations.\u00a0The people that are closest to you will influence you.\u00a0Help your children build relationships with godly people.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li data-leveltext=\"%1.\" data-font=\"Times New Roman\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><b>Know the influence you have on their dating and purity<\/b><b>.\u00a0<\/b>Many young people are falling prey to sexual pressure.\u00a0Many\u00a0<b>Christian young people<\/b>\u00a0are falling prey to sexual pressure.\u00a0How can we help our children build godly dating relationships?\u00a0Charles Barkley is in the NBA Hall of Fame.\u00a0He\u00a0currently\u00a0works on TNT as a basketball analyst.\u00a0He once said the following. \u201cI am not a role model.\u00a0I am paid to wreak havoc on the basketball court.\u00a0Parents should be role models.\u00a0Just because I dunk a basketball doesn\u2019t mean I should raise your kids.\u201d Barkley is right and wrong.\u00a0He was and is a role model.\u00a0You\u00a0also are a role model.\u00a0In fact,\u00a0you are the most important role model your children have.\u00a0Too many parents minimize the influence they have on their children.\u00a0Don\u2019t ever underestimate the influence you have on your children.\u00a0Your relationship with your children is important in helping them say no to sexual temptation.<span development<\/b><b>.\u00a0<\/b>In 1 Corinthians 11:1 Paul writes,\u00a0\u201cBe imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.\u201d\u00a0Paul gives these Christians a living example to follow.\u00a0Can we say these words to our children?\u00a0Can we\u00a0say\u00a0these words to our families?\u00a0Where will your children end up if they follow you?\u00a0Where will your family end up if they imitate you?\u00a0If you want your children to live right\u2026make sure you are living right.\u00a0If you\u00a0want\u00a0your children to love God\u2026make sure you love God.\u00a0If you want your children to go to\u00a0Heaven&#8230;make sure you are walking the path yourself.\u00a0If\u00a0you want\u00a0your children to read God\u2019s Word\u2026personally set the example.\u00a0Be the example in loving God.\u00a0Be the example in loving others.\u00a0Be the example in loving God\u2019s Word.\u00a0Be the example in staying\u00a0faithful.\u00a0Live your life so that you can say to your children and your family,\u00a0\u201cbe\u00a0Imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ\u201d\u00a0(1 Corinthians 11:1).<span
