\nEvolutionists are in a quandary\u2014they recognize that vision and the human eye demonstrate incredible complexity and sophistication. However, the word\u00a0design<\/i>\u00a0has become taboo\u2014because \u201cdesign\u201d demands a Designer, and evolutionists are unwilling to consider that possibility. Is it logical or plausible to believe that visual perception is the product of naturalistic changes\u2014that the lens focuses light-waves onto the retina, which is covered with photoreceptor cells (rods and cones)?\u00a0Those light waves are then converted to neuronal signals that travel down the optic nerve and are processed in the visual cortex of the brain. Not only is the human eye able to accomplish this incredible feat, it can do it in low lighting or on a bright sunny day. Additionally, humans are able to visually perceive images even traveling at great speeds. Vision is the product of the foresight of God.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
\nGod recognized that man would need the ability to move the eye and so He furnished six individual muscles that allow man to move the eye in a variety of directions. He also recognized that man would need the ability to see from \u2018dusk\u00a0til\u00a0dawn\u2019 and so He\u00a0formed the iris, which controls the diameter and size of the pupil. Additionally, He recognized that blood vessels in the lens would distort vision, and so He created special elongated cells that do not have a specific blood supply like the rest of the body, but rather they get their nutrients from the vitreous fluid. All of this took planning and forethought.\u00a0<\/span>
\nThe Kingdom\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Was Designed\u00a0<\/i><\/b>w<\/i><\/b>ith Forethought<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
\nIf the\u00a0human eye took special forethought and planning,\u00a0then\u00a0what\u00a0about the church?\u00a0Did it just spring up after the death of Jesus, or was it a part of God\u2019s greater plan?\u00a0Doesn\u2019t it make sense that something so important, so\u00a0vital to the overall plan of redemption would require\u00a0forethought and planning?\u00a0In Paul\u2019s second letter to Timothy he admonished,\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
\nTherefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the\u00a0Gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to\u00a0His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus\u00a0before time began<\/b>\u00a0(2 Timothy 1:8-9, emp. added).\u00a0<\/span>
\nIn\u00a0his letter to the Christians at Ephesus Paul observed,\u00a0To the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,\u00a0according to the eternal purpose<\/b>\u00a0which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord\u201d (Ephesians 3:10-11, emp. added).\u00a0<\/span>
\nJust like one cannot look upon the human\u00a0eye\u00a0and not see forethought and design, one cannot look at these Scriptures and not see forethought\u2014a plan.\u00a0<\/span>
\nThe Kingdom\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Was Prophesi<\/i><\/b>z<\/i><\/b>ed<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
\nBut what was the plan? It is hard to imagine that God could look into the future and recognize that man would need eyes that were good not only for \u201ctending and keeping\u201d a garden, but also for reading and typing on a computer. However, God knows the big picture. Likewise, when it comes to the establishment of the church God knew what would be needed before it was even needed! He recognized that those who were redeemed would become a\u00a0\u201ccalled out\u201d family who would serve\u00a0Him and seek to spread the Truth about Jesus Christ. In other words, God knew we would need a church family\u2014people of like precious faith who could encourage and edify us as we walk in the light.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
\nWe can look back to the Old Testament and\u00a0find\u00a0prophecy concerning this plan\u00a0for the church. For instance, in Daniel 2:44 we find these words: \u201cAnd in the days of these kings the God of\u00a0Heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>
\nWhat should we take away from this prophecy? Allow me to suggest the following:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The church (kingdom) would be set up in the days of kings\u2014which occurred in Acts 2.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    1. It will never be destroyed. Yes, there may be eras\u00a0in which it is\u00a0weaker or places on the\u00a0earth that have\u00a0come to embrace immorality and thus there are fewer members. But it will never be destroyed. This should bring us comfort as we think about some of the immoral changes happening around us today.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n
      1. In discussing the \u201cconsumption of all these kingdoms,\u201d it is probably referring to a spiritual victory rather than a physical victory here on earth.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        In that\u00a0same\u00a0book Daniel later observed, \u201cI was watching in the night visions, and behold One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a\u00a0kingdom, that\u00a0all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which will not be destroyed\u201d (Daniel 7:13-14). Clearly the church will not be destroyed.\u00a0<\/span>
        \nGod knew He needed to establish something that could withstand bombs, trends, political parties, and changes in culture. Thus, He perceived the formation of the church before\u00a0He created the earth. The prophet Isaiah 2:1-4 declared:\u00a0<\/span>
        \nThe word that Isaiah the son of\u00a0Amoz\u00a0saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. Now it shall come to pass in the latter days, that the mountain of the Lord\u2019s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, \u201cCome, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach\u00a0us His ways and we shall walk in His paths.\u201d For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
        \nNotice that the prophet Isaiah said,\u00a0\u201cFor out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.\u201d The word\u00a0Zion<\/i>\u00a0is often a synonym for the word\u00a0Jerusalem<\/i>, probably because Mount Zion is located near that city. The indication is that the \u201claw\u201d and \u201cword of the Lord\u201d is coming from Jerusalem. This piece of Scripture fits beautifully with what we read in Zechariah 8:3: \u201cThus says the Lord:\u00a0\u2018I will return to Zion, and dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be the City of Truth, the Mountain of the Lord of hosts, the Holy Mountain.\u2019\u201d\u00a0Clearly, the Bible was pointing toward Jerusalem.\u00a0Now consider for a moment that this was written in approximately 520 B.C.! It is amazing that 500 years before the existence of the church,\u00a0prophets were already writing about the fact that it would be coming out of Jerusalem.\u00a0<\/span>
        \nAs an anatomist dissects down into the eye,\u00a0things begin to make sense. God created a clear lens to allow light waves through. He created specific cells to help detect light during the day (cones) and also at night (rods). Likewise as we dissect down,\u00a0we recognize that God had a plan from the beginning, and that His\u00a0church (kingdom) would be started\u00a0in Jerusalem.\u00a0<\/span>
        \nHas\u00a0<\/i><\/b>This\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Kingdom\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Been Established?<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
        \nOn any given Sunday,\u00a0many denominations will recite the \u201cLord\u2019s Prayer\u201d\u00a0during their worship service.\u00a0Often praying aloud,\u00a0the congregation will say in unison,\u00a0\u201cOur Father which art in\u00a0heaven, Hallowed\u00a0be\u00a0thy name.\u202f<\/b>\u00a0<\/b>Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.\u00a0<\/b>Give us this day our daily bread.\u00a0<\/b>And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.\u00a0And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For\u00a0thine\u00a0is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,\u00a0for ever. Amen.\u00a0<\/span>
        \nThese\u00a0familiar\u00a0words can be\u00a0found in Matthew 6:9-13 and are sometimes referred to as the Lord\u2019s Prayer (it is more accurately referred to as the model prayer).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
        \nNotice one particular phrase in that prayer: \u201cThy\u00a0kingdom come.\u201d The implication is that God\u2019s\u00a0kingdom is coming.\u00a0But is it still coming<\/b>, or has it already been established?\u00a0Well,\u00a0let\u00a0us consider the following evidence:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Peter was given the keys to the\u00a0kingdom.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Jesus answered and said to him,\u00a0\u201cBlessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in\u00a0Heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build\u00a0My\u00a0church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the\u00a0keys of the kingdom<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Heaven, and whatever you bind on\u00a0earth will be bound in\u00a0Heaven, and whatever you loose on\u00a0earth will be loosed in\u00a0Heaven\u201d\u00a0(Matthew 16:17-19;\u00a0emp. added).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Additionally, the Bible records several instances in which Jesus Christ and His disciples declared that the\u00a0kingdom was \u201cat hand.\u201d\u00a0For instance, in Matthew 3:2, John the Baptizer declared: \u201cRepent, for the\u00a0kingdom of Heaven is at hand\u201d (see also Matthew 4:17; Luke 10:9). These statements indicate that the\u00a0kingdom would soon be established.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
          2. The final piece of the puzzle can be found in Mark 9:1 where Jesussaid to them:\u00a0\u201cVerily I say unto you,\u00a0that there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power<\/b>\u201d (emp. added, cf. Luke 9:27).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Clearly this passage indicates that the\u00a0kingdom would come during the lifetime\u00a0of some of those present at that time.\u00a0Those events happened approximately 2,000 years ago\u2014which means that the\u00a0kingdom\u2014Christ\u2019s church\u2014has already come and been established. (Which begs the question:\u00a0Why would we continue to pray\u00a0\u201cThy\u00a0kingdom come\u201d\u00a0if it is already here?)\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
            \nWho\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Presides\u00a0<\/i><\/b>o<\/i><\/b>ver\u00a0<\/i><\/b>t<\/i><\/b>he\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Kingdom<\/i><\/b>?<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
            \nIf God had a plan for the church,\u00a0then surely Jesus was a part of that master plan\u2014because without Jesus there can be no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:11-28).\u00a0Thus, Jesus must play a crucial role in the church. Just how crucial? Paul, in speaking of the role Jesus plays in this plan,\u00a0observed,\u00a0\u201cAnd He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all\u201d (Ephesians 1:22).\u00a0Clearly, the plan was for Jesus to be the head of the church\u2014not man.\u00a0<\/span>
            \nAgain, in His wisdom God had foretold thousands of years earlier through the prophet Isaiah that Jesus would be the head of the kingdom,\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
            \nFor unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,\u00a0Prince\u00a0of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this (Isaiah 9:6-7).\u00a0<\/span>
            \nI love the way Paul summed it up in Colossians 1:16-18, \u201cFor by\u00a0Him were all things created that are in\u00a0Heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.\u00a0All things were created\u00a0through\u00a0Him and for\u00a0Him.\u00a0And\u00a0He is before all things, and\u00a0in\u00a0Him all things consist.\u00a0And\u00a0<\/b>H<\/b>e is the head of the body, the church<\/b>,\u00a0who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,\u00a0that in all things\u00a0He may\u00a0have the preeminence.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>
            \nConclusion<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
            \nThere should be little doubt that God in His forethought and wisdom planned for the church. Just like the human eye,\u00a0it was intelligently designed. His prophets told of its coming literally thousands of years before its existence.\u00a0It was all a\u00a0part of a great plan\u2014a plan that finds Jesus Christ as the head of the\u00a0kingdom.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
            \nMen may try to model visual equipment after the human eye. They may even attempt to create an artificial one in the years to come. However, those weak attempts to replicate an authentic human eye are destined to fail. For you see,\u00a0the eye was designed with the brilliance of the All-Knowing Creator. Likewise, there may be churches out there that try to replicate His\u00a0kingdom. They may have some of the very same aspects\u2014but ultimately they too will fail, as\u00a0they were not designed by God with Jesus as\u00a0the head. Look around, what do you see? Are you in an artificial church, or the one that He designed from the beginning of the world?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
