\nIt is said\u00a0that\u00a0Moses\u00a0chose\u00a0\u201crather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the\u00a0passing pleasures of sin\u2026for he was\u00a0looking to the reward\u201d (Hebrews 11:25-26).\u00a0Moses could have lived a hedonistic life of sin, but instead he refused it because he had his eyes set on his goal\u2013\u2013Heaven! How many good families today will miss out on Heaven because they choose to do the opposite of what Moses did? Are we\u00a0families who are\u00a0laying up treasures on earth or in\u00a0Heaven?\u00a0In other words, are we spending our time, money, energy,\u00a0and affections on earthly pursuits, pleasures,\u00a0or possessions,\u00a0or are we investing in spiritual matters?\u00a0<\/span>
\nRemember these two things.\u00a0First, the pleasures of sin are fleeting.\u00a0It will not last.\u00a0Sin never fulfills its promises.\u00a0It comes and goes.\u00a0Sin is so disappointing in the end.\u00a0It leaves you high and dry.\u00a0Sin brings bondage.\u00a0Paul said, \u201cBut thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin\u2026\u201d (Romans 6:17).\u00a0The pleasures of sin will\u00a0turn a family into slaves.\u00a0Slaves become the possession of the one in charge, that is, the master.\u00a0Has the world become our master? Have we given our hearts over to idols of pleasure? Is every weekend full of something new to do or buy?\u00a0\u00a0 If so, the fleeting pleasures of sin may have a grip on your family.\u00a0<\/span>
\nSecond, let your reward of\u00a0H<\/b>eaven<\/b>\u00a0be your motivation for living a righteous life.\u00a0An executive \u201chead-hunter\u201d once told this story, \u201cWhen I get an executive that I\u2019m trying to hire for someone else, I like to disarm him\u2026 I offer him a soft drink, take my coat off, then my vest, undo my tie, throw up my feet and talk about baseball, football, family, whatever, until he\u2019s all relaxed.\u00a0Then, when I think I\u2019ve got him relaxed, I lean over, look him square in the eye,\u00a0and say, \u2018What\u2019s your purpose in life?\u2019\u00a0 It\u2019s amazing how top executives fall apart at that question.\u00a0Well, I was interviewing this fellow the other day, had him all disarmed, with my feet up on his desk, talking about football.\u00a0Then I leaned up and said, \u2018What\u2019s your purpose in life, Bob?\u2019\u00a0 And he said, without blinking an eye, \u2018To go to\u00a0Heaven and take as many people with me as I can.\u2019\u00a0 For the first time in my career I was speechless\u201d (source unknown).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
\nOur purpose here on earth is to go to\u00a0Heaven and take as many with us as possible! Paul said, \u201cFor our citizenship is in\u00a0Heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord\u00a0Jesus Christ\u201d (Philippians 3:20).\u00a0This thought should be in our conversations and prayers every day!\u00a0Heaven is so worth it! God is there! Jesus is there! Your faithful brothers and sisters in Christ will be there! Your Christian grandparents will be there!\u00a0Are you leading your family\u00a0there?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
