I realize many \u201cfeel-good\u201d preachers are currently polishing up their \u201cMoms are so great! We love our moms!\u201d sermons. But for those preachers who are not afraid to teach the Truth, let me offer a suggestion: Use this Sunday to encourage mothers to actually be mothers!<\/p>\n
There is a tradition we hold strong every year where on Mother\u2019s Day we love and coddle mothers, and then on Father\u2019s Day we take out a 2 x 4 and beat fathers over the head, and tell them they need to do better.<\/p>\n
But the reality is, mothers hold their fair share of responsibility for broken homes and children who walk away from the faith. I realize this article may not make me popular in the eyes of many women, but it needs to be said.<\/p>\n
The definition of a mother is a female parent of a human being or one who gives birth to a child. But the definition goes on to include this statement \u201ca woman who undertakes the responsibilities of a parent towards a child.\u201d Boy has that part of the definition been forgotten in this age of radical feminism.<\/p>\n
We have lots of women who have given birth to children or are the female parent of a child. But relatively few who are willing to put in the hard work of staying home and training up those children.<\/strong><\/p>\n Men are often told (correctly) that being a father is more than just being a sperm donor. Well likewise, being a mother is more than just giving birth. AND IT IS MORE THAN JUST POSTING POSED PICTURES ON INSTAGRAM! Real parents invest time and energy into raising up their children\u2014and for Christians, this means putting in the time to teach them biblical principles.<\/p>\n The reality is that most \u201cmothers\u201d relegated the responsibility of training up their child to day-care center workers, teachers, youth ministers, and extended family members. They have bought into the feministic lie that women should have their own independent career and should not be burdened with raising children. Not only that, in too many cases many ladies today don\u2019t even like their children. (Likely because they were never trained well and so the children behave like spoiled brats.)<\/p>\n So maybe we should have a special \u201cOthers Day\u201d celebration to spotlight all the other individuals who raised children instead of the moms.<\/p>\n Again, I realize that many are going to be very angry by what I\u2019m saying. But friends, the numbers don\u2019t lie. We are losing 75-88% of our children in the church (depending on whose research you use). We have an entire generation that, for the most part, has walked away from the church.<\/p>\n An honest evaluation reveals our children are not being trained to fear the Lord at home. They are not being trained to love Jesus more than themselves. They are not being trained to be servant-minded. Instead, they are being trained to pursue worldly interests and they are being taught a secular worldview.<\/p>\n So, on this Mother\u2019s Day I encourage you to celebrate real mothers\u2014women who invest time and energy into shaping the hearts of their children. <\/strong><\/p>\n Honor those women who are working hard to mold their children into Christian warriors. But consider using this Sunday to also encourage those women who have abandoned their children in pursuit of careers to reengage.<\/p>\n Encourage those women who have delegated their responsibility to someone else, to stop and train up their children.<\/p>\n Encourage those women to stop being superficial and only \u201cmothering\u201d on Facebook or Instagram.<\/p>\n Encourage those women who look down on homemakers to examine their hearts.<\/p>\n Encourage those women who refuse to parent their children to repent.<\/p>\n Encourage mothers to actually be mothers!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I realize many \u201cfeel-good\u201d preachers are currently polishing up their \u201cMoms are so great!
