This fall California will become the first state to mandate a LGBT curriculum\u2014all the way down to 2nd<\/sup> graders as a part of a new history and social science curriculum. Tom Torlakson, California Superintendent of Public Instruction remarked, \u201cThis is a big win for our students.\u201d (see http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2016\/07\/19\/lgbt-history-california-first-to-teach\/<\/a>) This new curriculum is in response to the new framework proposed by common core standards. Jane Robbins, attorney and senior fellow at American Principles Project observed, \u201cCalifornia has decided to include people in the curriculum and celebrate them (no criticism allowed, apparently) based solely on their sexual behavior,\u201d she asserts. She continued, \u201cit\u2019s only a matter of time until this propaganda spreads to the public schools of other states.\u201d
\nTwo weeks ago I had the opportunity to share a lesson on same-sex marriage and debunked the false science that claims homosexuality is genetic. During the question and answer session that followed a young millennial\u2014about 22 years old\u2014complained that during my lesson I mentioned that the younger generation had been taught tolerance. He assured me this was not true. I asked this young man a series of questions in response:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Do you currently watch television programs with homosexual characters? Are they glamorized in the T.V. show?<\/li>\n
  2. Have you been assigned a book or reading assignment that glamorizes homosexual characters?<\/li>\n
  3. Have you seen books\/media that espouses having two moms or dads is normal?<\/li>\n
  4. Have you ever been taught that homosexuality is just an alternative lifestyle?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This young man answered yes to every question. He had been indoctrinated with tolerance and didn\u2019t even realize it.
    \nTwo things come to mind immediately upon reading the headline about 2nd<\/sup> graders having LGBT material in their curriculum. The first has to do with the direction of our nation. In 2 Chronicles 28:19 we read, \u201cFor the Lord brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, FOR HE ENCOURAGED MORAL DECLINE in Judah and had been continually unfaithful to the Lord\u201d (emp. added). One would be hard pressed to deny this new \u201ccurriculum\u201d is not encouraging moral decline.
    \nThe second has to do with what is going into the minds of our children and grandchildren. This \u201ccurriculum\u201d has nothing to do with history and social science education\u2014but rather, is all about indoctrination of a specific ideology. Are we as parents really considering what we are allowing into the minds of our children? Paul declared, \u201cFinally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are<\/em> noble, whatever things are<\/em> just, whatever things are<\/em> pure, whatever things are<\/em> lovely, whatever things are<\/em> of good report, if there is<\/em> any virtue and if there is<\/em> anything praiseworthy\u2014meditate on these things\u201d (Philippians 4:8). How does this passage stand up to the curriculum your children will return to this fall?
