Whether you have\u00a0never done family devos or have been doing them for years,\u00a0here is your crash course in family devotionals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>The Need<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It shouldn\u2019t come as a surprise to you that our children\u2019s\u00a0faith is under siege in today\u2019s society. Now there are a lot of\u00a0reasons that one could point at as being the problem, but this\u00a0article is not about focusing on the negative but rather offering\u00a0a solution. (You can check out the FPBlog&#8217;s section on youth faithfulness <a href=\"http:\/\/focuspressblog.com\/category\/children\/\">here<\/a>.)\u00a0The point is, there\u00a0is a huge need for kids to practice and observe a godly lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>Just Do It<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">There have been many, many books written on the subject\u00a0of family devos so I will keep this point short. Just do it! There\u00a0are so many excuses as to why people don\u2019t even try to do\u00a0them in their homes but really it just comes down to giving it\u00a0a shot. I have made many mistakes in my life (shocker, I\u00a0know!) and I have likewise made mistakes in my family devos,\u00a0but we move on. My wife and I learned what worked and what\u00a0didn\u2019t but we saw that there was a need and the last thing we\u00a0could do is sit around and roll the dice as to whether or not\u00a0our kids remained faithful. Take action! Do something!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>Fun, Fast, Frequent<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Here are the three points that I try to incorporate into our\u00a0family devos. I love having fun with my family no matter what\u00a0we are doing. Did you know that worshipping God could be\u00a0fun? Actually, it should be, so this was one thing I wanted in\u00a0my family devos. If they weren\u2019t fun then I knew that I wouldn\u2019t\u00a0last, let alone my kids. Our family devos take about 10 minutes,\u00a0just enough time to sing three or four songs and share a short\u00a0thought and end with a prayer. Bing, bang, boom \u2026 done!\u00a0And to solidify our devos as a habit for our kids we try to do\u00a0them every day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>Timing Is Key<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The number one complaint I get from parents about family\u00a0devos is, \u201cWe don\u2019t have enough time to do them.\u201d I get it,\u00a0kids and families are busy these days. Between sports practice,\u00a0homework, eating, playing video games (yeah, I went there),\u00a0and going to worship there is no time for something like this.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Or is there? Get creative with it! There are a lot of 10 minute\u00a0blocks throughout the day when you think about it. Just to\u00a0name a few: 1) The car ride to worship, practice, or school. 2)\u00a0Before bed time. 3) After dinner while everyone is sitting\u00a0around. Pick a time and stick to it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">So there you go\u2014crash course complete.
